Call to Prayer for Youth Challenge - Glenn & Ruth Dotson

Many of you know Glenn & Ruth Dotson as the parents of Youth Challenge Founder Tim Dotson. They have continued to be involved in Youth Challenge, helping promote "Keepers of the Flame," the Youth Challenge Prayer Initiative. Received this from them today. Please read!

PRAYER CHANGES THINGS

A small plaque with this phrase, “Prayer Changes Things” was on the wall of my home as I grew up, and now, stands on the bookshelf in our office. We are asking each one of you to join with us to pray more diligently than you ever did for YOUTH CHALLENGE.

Organize prayer groups, and form prayer chains for youth who will be attending this convention. We want YOUTH CHALLENGE to be more than just a fun time, but a special experience when everyone will leave knowing they have walked in the presence of God and been brought face-to-face with the reality of eternity.

The old timers went on their faces before God to plead for revival. We remember them praying until people were shaken and fell on their faces to seek God. Lives were turned around forever! We are both serving God today because of the effectual prayer of those who interceded for us. Join with us in overshadowing this YOUTH CHALLENGE convention with a volume of prayer that will shake the place and give special enabling to John Manley and his executive team of capable young men.

Thank you!

Thanks to Dan Durkee!

On the YC blog in the next few days, we will be announcing the two newest Youth Challenge Board Members... in the meantime, I'd like to say "Thanks" to a very special board member who is "retiring."

Dan Durkee has served on the Youth Challenge Committee for 13 years. He was there from the very beginning, when Tim Dotson, Dan Coy, and Dan Durkee got together to brainstorm out a dream they all had: a Youth
Convention for Holiness teens. The result? We all know and love it today as Youth Challenge!

Dan has served as Convention Director, organizing details, booths, ushers, leading choruses, making announcements, preaching... I guess he's done a little bit of everything! All the while, blasting that "megawatt smile" across the grounds of Youth Challenge...

Dan writes this message to all of you:
Who would have thought that 14 years ago when Tim Dotson, Dan Coy and I felt directed by the Lord to start this journey of Youth Challenge that it would lead us to this place? We didn't expect it to be what it is today. God has directed Youth Challenge, and it's been a thrill to watch God's hand in the lives of those who were a part of it. We know Youth Challenge will last because of the foundation God helped us to lay!

It's been a thrill to be a part of the first decade of Youth Challenge, and I'm grateful to all the people who have been a part of the Youth Challenge dream... Steve Shipman, Eric Guntrum, and dozens of others. They have their fingerprints all over this part of YC history, and they've been a tremendous blessing.

Most of all, I'm thankful to God for the opportunity to influence young people for good, that they truly would live holy lives, and impact the world for Jesus Christ!

I'm looking forward to working with Youth Challenge as an advisory board member, and of course, attending YC conventions in the future. I can't wait to be a "Walmart greeter" at the door, smiling and saying "Welcome to Youth Challenge!"

Dan, thanks so much for your service to Youth Challenge!
